Fall 2015 - As I see It

by RFMariano - October 03, 2015

Introduction

Here we are, on the precipice of another season of "spectacular" releases of new games, Windows 10 and a few apps for the PC.

Additionally, the changes to our format and coverage has no doubt confused some and alienated others. It's all good though, for once users realize they're getting the best of both worlds they'll become more participatory.

By both worlds I mean Entertainment and Technology coverage (games,etc..) and Current Events (news,politics,etc..) coverage accompanied of course, by our Editorials discussing anything and everything that will possibly affect our daily lives. Editorials are welcome from anyone.

Current Events

In the world's magnanimous political efforts to appease all walks of life, we've been hammered with "political correctness" and LGBT which is intended to emphasize a diversity of sexuality and gender identity-based cultures and is sometimes used to refer to anyone who is non-heterosexual or non-cisgender instead of exclusively to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. To each his own.

Politically Correctness is more than likely, the most offensive of "new" socially acceptable practices introduced by the weak. Seemingly, its use promotes the fine art of two-faced deception of all sorts. People are becoming "aces" at bullshitting. Truth be known, it won't last long. Telling it like it is.. (TRUTH) will prevail in the long run as it's the only way to go.

Then comes the old standby griefer, extreme racism. This stealthy and seemingly innocuous social undertone is perhaps the most deadly of all social problems facing the world today. In reality, racism in any form has no place in modern society. Yet there are selfish and divisive exploiters the world over who'll use racism at the drop of a hat to satisfy their own selfish goals.

These are among the most critical and difficult times we live in. The EU is teetering on financial ruin and collapse. The entire European situation is in a state of fragile flux and upheaval, Europe is literally being invaded by hundreds of thousands Islamic "migrants" from the middle east and finally, both Russia and China are very busy "flexing their atrophied muscles".

Truly it appears that History is repeating itself. Of course, all this will come to head one way or another. Either way the current events will affect the world's economy, social and political structure.

Future growth patterns of nations will be far different than they were in the last century.

Increased Militarism

Because of the economic instabilities in the world today, aggressive nations are rearing their ugly heads in hopes of grabbing both power and wealth. They will fail and fall before sensible free men.

The most serious of threats today are, as has been for centuries in one way or another, religious zealots. Today it's Radical Militant Islamic zealots (Terrorists) who are promising the world that if .. conversion to Islam is not accepted then death is the alternative.

In light of that fact, let's observe current events. Islamic migrants are flooding the world's religion tolerant nations from both the Mideast and Africa seeking new lives (asylum).

Many observers have noted that young male adults seem to outnumber the women and children by vast numbers. Those observers cautiously submit that among those young male muslims may very well be stealthy Islamic insurgents out to "convert" each and every nation openly welcoming them. Keep an eye on Germany she'll be the first to wake up and stand pat.

Armageddon

Then we come to the Mideast itself, in particular, Syria and of course Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran. The US President boastfully declares that Russia, now participating in Syria's civil war, has but two allies in the Mideast Syria and Iran. Personally, I feel he's delusional. Much like when he spoke of ISIS being "JV" (Junior Varsity).

Truth is - in the Mideast, the USA has but ONE true, faithful ally and that is Israel. All the other so-called allies will turn on the USA in a heartbeat if it's to their advantage.

Yes, my friends.. these are trying times.

Entertainment

Whatever became of the quality games most of us cut our gaming teeth on? Games like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and the other first person shooters that were relatively accurate in both history and weaponry depiction. In seeking new and innovative FPS games, one must find three basics factors;
  • Entertainment
  • Realism
  • Repeat Playability
Current releases are either cartoonish flash in the pans, short lived, graphically enriched demo-like things, reruns in new graphics or console crossovers. Its as if the developers are merely attempting to grab the money and run.

The games today IMHO, have gone to ridiculous efforts of fantasy. Especially space fantasies where it's obvious the creative liberties taken by developers have gone well over the top.

Then there's the silly games that are seemingly geared to preteen markets. Of course, there's always the Zombie craze that's slowly on the wane... (most users are all zombied out) but for those developers, the console market is always there to further milk the users.

It's high time the Gaming Developers got back to basics. They should study the formulas that are successful time in and time out. Then rethink the objectives and go for the designs that keeps players loyal and returning release upon release.

One hit wonders are a dime a dozen. The real deals last for a generation. Study the original concepts behind MoH, CoD and the other FPS games that have been successful over the years. There's precepts there to be learned again and again.

Pay attention to success and avoid bankruptcy.

Interesting synopsis (crossing world news with entertainment).

Regarding current events, our government is more interested in freeing drug traffickers and instituting gun control to keep the population sedated. Afraid of an informed/well educated armed populace for certain. PC is just another snow job, keep everything grey and in a state of stupor.

Militarism is a way of life. Truman warned of the Industrial/military complex, which he tried to halt by not taking on the Russians in 45. However, the red scare enabled its escalation. The evils American corporations perpetrate abroad is real, and our military is there to make sure it continues. I'm not siding on the Muslim extremist, only stating the perception and reality of U.S. involvement hushed by our own media is tragic. Unfortunately it will be the ignorant, and blameless American public that will ultimately pay the price. Either by war or economic ruin.

We can blame Israel on Truman as well. Rather, thank him. it was a bold move and the only sane nation in the Middle-East. Israel has let the world exploit oil so Arab countries can buy weapons, and more weapons. The Muslim world is predominantly one of hate and greed. The age of oil is nearing its end, I'd give it one or two generations before the collapse. Luckily. our corporations hold patents for the successor, and the one after that. Only through fear and chaos is there profit.

About gaming. meh.
Consolidated publishers kill more indies than are popping up. The barriers to entry are mounting every year as the industry yields more sales. Console is just a synonym for control. Microsoft and Sony don't want PC games, but they can't look aggressive in their demise. Ruin them by pushing early release of bug ridden software. Develop new operating systems that are console ready. Give it a few more years and the only "indie" games will be coming from Korea and China. Albeit highly subsidized and government owned.

Those are just my opinions based on observation and facts. Hopefully time will shed light on global prosperity and happiness in a short while. And the grey planet will measure out how much is actually white and how much is really black.

Your opinions are not only valued, they're absolutely "on the mark".

Thank you for your thoughtful and equally insightful input.
